ACCEPTABLE USE POLICY

Fight fraud fairly.
Use Verdikx as intended.

What Verdikx may and may not be used for, including why its scores are never a consumer report, and how we enforce it.

Last updated: October 2026 · Effective date: October 6, 2026 · Operator: Verdikx LLC

This Acceptable Use Policy is part of the Verdikx Terms of Service and expands on section 6 (Acceptable use). It applies to everyone who uses Verdikx, including your team members and anyone acting for you. If it conflicts with the Terms, the Terms control.

1. What Verdikx is for

Verdikx helps merchants keep evidence of their own orders, screen those orders for fraud, review returns, and prepare and submit their own dispute responses. Use it only for that, for your own business, and in line with the law and your payment providers’ and Shopify’s rules.

2. No credit, employment, insurance or housing decisions

Verdikx is not a consumer reporting agency, and nothing it produces is a “consumer report” under the US Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) or similar laws. You must not use Verdikx, or anything it shows you, including risk scores, screening reasons, refund-abuse signals, customer profiles and Verdikx Network signals:

  • to decide, or help decide, a person’s eligibility for credit, employment, insurance, housing or tenancy, including tenant screening;
  • for any other purpose that the FCRA or a similar law covers; or
  • for advertising, marketing, or profiling that is unrelated to fraud and abuse prevention.

Risk scores and signals are indicators, not determinations of fraud. Review flagged orders yourself, and do not use the output as the sole basis for a decision that legally or significantly affects a person.

3. Honest evidence

  • Do not submit fabricated, altered, forged or misleading evidence, or evidence you know to be false, to a bank, card network, payment processor or anyone else.
  • Do not edit tracking, delivery, conversation or order records to misrepresent what happened, and do not present AI drafts as fact without checking them.
  • You are responsible for every response you submit, including responses submitted under Autopilot rules you turned on.

4. Data you bring

  • Upload, connect or import only data you have a lawful right to process for these purposes, with the notices your customers need.
  • Do not upload full payment card numbers, card security codes, passwords, government identity numbers, health information or other special-category data. Blocklists refuse a full card number if one is typed in.
  • Do not upload content that is unlawful, defamatory, infringing, or that you have no right to share, or files containing malware.

5. Treat people fairly

  • Do not use Verdikx to discriminate unlawfully against anyone, including on the basis of a protected characteristic, or use location, name or other signals as a proxy for one.
  • Do not use Verdikx to harass, threaten, shame, stalk or intimidate customers or anyone else, or to publish their information.
  • Do not use Verdikx Network signals to try to identify a buyer or another store, or for anything other than preventing fraud and abuse on your own store’s orders and returns (Verdikx Network terms).

6. Protect the service and other merchants

  • Do not access, or try to access, another merchant’s data or any account you are not authorized to use.
  • Do not share sign-in credentials or API keys outside your team, or sell or give access to Verdikx to others. Give each person their own sign-in.
  • Do not reverse engineer, decompile or copy Verdikx except where the law allows, or use it to build a competing product.
  • Do not scrape the service or our website, or access it by automated means other than our documented API with your own API key.
  • Do not bypass or evade rate limits, usage limits, plan limits or security controls, or overload or interfere with the service.
  • Do not probe, scan or test the security of Verdikx except as our vulnerability policy allows: only against stores and accounts you own or may use, never against other merchants’ data, and never denial-of-service or volume testing.
  • Do not use Verdikx for anything unlawful, fraudulent or deceptive.

7. Enforcement

If we reasonably believe this policy has been broken, we may remove the content involved, pause a feature, or suspend or terminate access, as section 13 (Termination) of the Terms allows. Where reasonable we will give notice first and a chance to fix the problem; we may act at once where there is a security or legal risk or harm to others. We may report unlawful activity to the authorities, payment providers or Shopify where the law requires or allows it.

8. Reporting

9. Changes

We update this policy as described in section 20 of the Terms, with a new “last updated” date and notice of material changes.
