Where fashion disputes and losses come from
- Not as described. Wrong size, colour, fabric or quality: Visa 13.3 or Mastercard 4853.
- Credit not processed. The customer says they returned the item and was not refunded: Visa 13.6 or the legacy Mastercard 4860.
- Item not received. Visa 13.1. See item not received disputes.
- Counterfeit claims. On branded goods, the customer says the item is not genuine: Visa 13.4.
- Wardrobing and serial returns. Items worn and sent back, or customers who return most of what they buy. These are refunds, not chargebacks, but they cost the same. See refund abuse.
The evidence that answers them
Size guides and product photos as published, the return policy shown at checkout, return tracking that shows whether the item came back, delivery scans and customer messages.
How Verdikx fits
Verdikx is a fraud, chargeback and dispute platform for e-commerce and SaaS merchants, built by Verdikx LLC (New Jersey, United States).
- Returns-abuse scoring (Growth). Each return request gets approve, review or decline-recommended with the reasons: serial returns, worn-and-returned items, tracking mismatches, refund history and opt-in Verdikx Network refund-abuse signals, weighed against your policy. Nothing changes in Shopify until you act. See returns.
- Customer risk profiles (Growth). A customer's orders, refunds, chargebacks and refund-abuse score in one view. See customer risk profiles.
- Returns and helpdesk evidence (beta). Loop Returns, Gorgias, Zendesk, Freshdesk and Intercom records attach to cases.
- Evidence on every order (every plan, from Starter, $29/month). Tracking numbers, store policies and checkout facts are saved as they happen. Carrier delivery scans are checked automatically, with no carrier login.
- Order screening (Growth). Risk scores and automatic holds on high-risk Shopify orders, plus blocklists for known abusers.
Where Verdikx does not fit
- It does not process returns, print labels or issue refunds; your returns app and Shopify do that.
- Marketplace connections (Amazon, Etsy, eBay) are coming soon, not available today.
- Card-network pre-dispute alerts (Visa RDR and Mastercard Ethoca) are coming soon, not available today.
- It does not guarantee outcomes. Issuers and card networks decide disputes.
Frequently asked questions
What is wardrobing?
Wardrobing is buying clothing, wearing it once and returning it for a full refund. It is a form of returns abuse rather than a chargeback, but it erodes margin the same way.
Does Verdikx block returns automatically?
No. Returns-abuse scoring recommends approve, review or decline with the reasons. Nothing changes in Shopify until you act on the recommendation.
Which returns apps does Verdikx connect to?
Loop Returns is connected in beta (fully built and supported), and its return records attach to cases as evidence.
