Where electronics disputes come from
- Card-absent fraud. Stolen cards on high-value, easy-to-resell items: Visa 10.4 or Mastercard 4837. Watch for card testing, triangulation fraud, account takeover and reshipping addresses.
- Item not received. High-value parcels are worth claiming as lost: Visa 13.1 or Mastercard 4855.
- Defective or not as described. The device failed, or the model or condition differed from the listing: Visa 13.3 or Mastercard 4853.
- Counterfeit claims. Visa 13.4 on branded devices and accessories.
The evidence that answers them
AVS and CVV results, the checkout IP and device, carrier proof of delivery (with signature confirmation from the carrier on high-value orders), the product listing and warranty terms, and any troubleshooting conversation. Serial numbers and repair records live in your own systems and need to be added to the case.
How Verdikx fits
Verdikx is a fraud, chargeback and dispute platform for e-commerce and SaaS merchants, built by Verdikx LLC (New Jersey, United States).
- Order screening before you ship (Growth). A 0 to 100 risk score with plain-English reasons: address mismatches, order velocity, Tor and data-center IPs, and devices linked to past chargebacks through the storefront device pixel. See AI risk explanations.
- Automatic holds. High-risk Shopify orders get a fulfillment hold by default, released when you approve the order.
- Custom rules (Pro, $199/month). Hold, tag or alert on your own conditions, such as a first order above a value you choose. See risk rules.
- Verdikx Network (Growth, opt-in). Chargeback outcomes shared as keyed hashes between participating stores. See the Verdikx Network.
- Delivery evidence (every plan). Tracking numbers are saved to each order and AfterShip (beta) adds checkpoints. Carrier delivery scans are checked automatically, with no carrier login. Direct UPS, FedEx and USPS proof-of-delivery files are coming soon.
Where Verdikx does not fit
- It does not reimburse fraud chargebacks; it is not a chargeback guarantee.
- It does not read serial numbers, IMEIs or warranty systems; upload those records to the case.
- Card-network pre-dispute alerts (Visa RDR and Mastercard Ethoca) are coming soon, not available today.
- It does not guarantee outcomes. Issuers and card networks decide disputes.
Frequently asked questions
Why do electronics stores attract so much fraud?
Electronics are high value and easy to resell, so a stolen card turns into cash quickly. Fraudsters often use reshipping addresses, express shipping and new accounts, which is why screening before fulfillment matters most.
Does Verdikx hold risky orders automatically?
Yes, on Shopify. High-risk orders get a fulfillment hold by default, once per order and never over a decision you made. Approving the order releases the hold. You can turn automatic holds off.
Does Verdikx reimburse fraud chargebacks?
No. Verdikx does not offer a chargeback guarantee. It helps you stop risky orders before you ship and answer disputes with evidence; issuers decide the outcome.
