Returns

Approve good returns.
Question the rest.

Return fraud detection scores each return request for abuse before you refund. Verdikx, on Growth and Pro, gives every Shopify or Loop (beta) return an Approve, Review or Decline suggested recommendation with the reasons: return rate, serial returning, short keep times, tracking mismatches, light packages, chargeback history and network signals. You make every final decision.

Part of one platform

One step of the lifecycle. All of it covered.

Verdikx handles prevention and chargeback recovery on the same order record, from checkout to chargeback and after.

  1. 01Before it ships

    Screen every order

On Growth and Pro, a 0–100 risk score with plain-English reasons on every new order after it is placed: IP and device velocity, card testing, account takeover, repeat disputers, chargebacks linked from other orders, IP intelligence, your blocklists and rules, and Verdikx Network history. Risky orders are held before fulfilment; you decide.

  2. 02As it happens

    Capture the evidence

Tracking, store policies, customer messages, checkout signals and order history are saved to the order's evidence vault as they happen, not rebuilt later.

  3. 03Before it's a chargeback

    Stop it early

Stripe early fraud warnings land in one inbox, so you can refund within your limits before they turn into chargebacks. Card-network alerts (Visa RDR, Mastercard Ethoca) coming soon.

  4. 04When it lands

    Fight it with facts

One queue for nine processors (some in beta) plus emailed or CSV notices. Each case gets a reason-code checklist, an AI draft that cites your records and a PDF evidence packet, submitted by you, or by Autopilot where the processor allows it.

  5. 05After

    Learn and protect

Refund-abuse scores and returns recommendations before the refund goes out, a daily chargeback-ratio check that warns you as it climbs, and a Results dashboard with win rates, recovered revenue and what you kept, by processor and reason.

The problem

Return abuse hides inside normal-looking refunds.

01

Serial returners

A handful of customers return almost everything, eating shipping, restocking and margin.

02

Wear it once

Occasion pieces bought, worn and returned within days, with the tags put back on.

03

Double dipping

A refund on a return and a chargeback on the same order.

How Verdikx solves it

A decision on every return, with the reasons attached.

01

Explainable scoring

Return rate, timing, item category, tracking mismatches and empty-box weight checks.

02

Your return policy, enforced

Windows, final-sale tags, limits per customer and restocking-fee suggestions.

03

Network history

Refund-abuse signals from other participating stores, privacy-safe and opt-in.

04

Evidence for later

Returns and refusals flow into 'credit not processed' dispute packets automatically.

How a return is reviewed

Verdikx is a fraud, chargeback and dispute platform for e-commerce and SaaS merchants, built by Verdikx LLC. In the Returns workspace:

  1. Returns arrive from Shopify returns, from Loop Returns (beta; click Sync Loop returns), or from cases you open yourself.
  2. Your policy applies. Set the return window (30 days by default), the maximum returns per customer in 90 days, final-sale tags and the wardrobing threshold. Returns outside the window or marked final sale are recommended for denial.
  3. Signals are scored for the customer, the order and the package (see the table).
  4. You get a recommendation with the reasons behind it: Approve, Review or Decline suggested.
  5. Inspect and re-check. Add the return shipment and inspection details, then click Re-check this return.
  6. You decide. Verdikx never approves, declines or refunds a return on its own.

Return decisions also become evidence: if a customer later files a "credit not processed" chargeback, the return state and refund record flow into the dispute packet. For the broader problem and policy advice, see refund abuse.

Frequently asked questions

Does Verdikx approve or refund returns automatically?

No. Verdikx gives each return a recommendation with reasons; it never approves, declines or refunds a return in your store. You make the decision in your returns flow, and the recommendation and your decision stay on record.

Is Verdikx a returns portal?

No. It doesn't create return labels or customer-facing return pages. It works alongside Shopify returns and Loop Returns (beta), adding fraud and abuse review to the requests those tools collect.

How does Verdikx detect empty-box returns?

It compares the return package's weight, from the carrier scan or your inspection, with the expected weight of the returned items. A much lighter package is flagged as a weight mismatch or possible empty box, alongside the other signals.

Will reviewing returns upset good customers?

It shouldn't, because recommendations aren't actions. Returns without risk signals come back as Approve. You can mark customers as trusted, and only requests with real signals ask for a closer look before you refund.

Which plan includes return fraud detection?

The Returns workspace, refund-abuse scores and customer risk profiles are included with Growth ($79/month) and Pro ($199/month), each with a 7-day free trial.
