Where travel and ticketing disputes come from
- Services not provided. The event was cancelled, the tour did not run or the customer says they could not use the booking: Visa 13.1 or Mastercard 4853 (legacy 4855).
- Cancelled services. The customer cancelled under your terms and expected a refund: Visa 13.7.
- Credit not processed. A promised refund or credit did not appear: Visa 13.6 or the legacy Mastercard 4860.
- Not as described. The room, seat or experience did not match the listing: Visa 13.3 or 13.5 Misrepresentation.
- Card-absent fraud. Stolen cards on bookings: Visa 10.4 or Mastercard 4837.
Why timing matters
For Visa 13.1, the issuer can file within 120 days of the transaction or of the last date the cardholder expected the service, never beyond 540 days, according to Visa's rules. A booking paid months ahead can be disputed long after the money has been spent, which is why acquirers often treat travel as higher risk. See high-risk merchants.
The evidence that answers them
Booking confirmations, the cancellation and refund terms the customer accepted, proof the service was available or used (check-in, boarding or ticket-scan records), and messages about changes. Stripe's dispute guidance lists the same kinds of records for canceled and not-received services.
How Verdikx fits
Verdikx is a fraud, chargeback and dispute platform for e-commerce and SaaS merchants, built by Verdikx LLC (New Jersey, United States). Most travel and ticketing sellers are not on Shopify, so they use a processor-only workspace.
- One dispute queue. Stripe disputes are live; Braintree, Adyen, Checkout.com and Authorize.net are in beta; notices from any processor or bank arrive by forwarded email or CSV.
- Evidence you supply. Upload booking confirmations, terms and scan records as PDF, JPEG or PNG files in the case's evidence checklist, or send them as evidence notes through the API or Zapier (Growth).
- Reason-coded drafts. The AI drafts each response from the records on file, following the playbook for that reason code, and you review it before anything is submitted.
- Deadlines in one place. Every case shows its response deadline, and Autopilot (Growth) can prepare drafts as disputes arrive.
Where Verdikx does not fit
- It does not connect to booking engines, airline reservation systems or ticket-scanning platforms, so travel records are only as complete as what you upload or send.
- Order screening runs on Shopify and WooCommerce (beta) orders only; Verdikx does not screen bookings made elsewhere.
- It does not manage refunds, credits or rebookings for cancelled events.
- Card-network pre-dispute alerts (Visa RDR and Mastercard Ethoca) are coming soon, not available today.
- It does not guarantee outcomes. Issuers and card networks decide disputes.
Frequently asked questions
Why are travel chargebacks hard to manage?
The service often happens long after payment, so disputes can arrive months later. For Visa 13.1 the issuer can file within 120 days of the expected service date, up to 540 days from the transaction, according to Visa's rules.
Does Verdikx connect to my booking system?
No. Verdikx does not connect to booking engines, reservation systems or ticket scanners. Upload booking and scan records to the case, or send them through the API or Zapier as evidence notes.
Is Verdikx a good fit for a travel business?
It fits if you want disputes from several processors in one queue with reason-coded drafts, and you can supply booking records. If you need pre-dispute alerts or automatic booking data, it is not a fit today. Talk to us about your setup first.
