What American Express C05 means
The Card Member claims a cancellation that you did not honor or credit. Amex's guide lists unprocessed cancellations, misunderstood auto-renewal terms, unsuccessful cancellation attempts and refused shipments.
Common causes
- Cancellation request sent by email or chat that was missed
- Order shipped after the customer asked to cancel
- Cancellation attempted after the policy cut-off (for example after shipment or after a booking deadline)
- Auto-renewal terms the customer did not understand
Evidence that answers it
- Cancellation policy and the checkout screen or terms showing it was presented and accepted
- Timeline showing no cancellation was received before fulfillment, or that it came after the cut-off
- Delivery confirmation or service usage after the claimed cancellation
- Refund record if any credit was issued
How to prevent it
- Process cancellation requests immediately and issue a cancellation number
- Make cancellation terms visible before purchase and require acceptance
- Route all customer channels (email, chat, helpdesk) into one queue so cancellations are not missed
How Verdikx helps with C05
Verdikx pulls helpdesk tickets (beta) so you can check whether a cancellation request arrived and when. The canceled playbook asks for the disclosed policy and acceptance, adds delivery proof, and drafts a response for you to review.
