Frequently asked questions
What does Discover reason code NA mean?
Discover NA means the transaction was processed without authorization: none was requested, it was requested a day or more late, or a tip was added to an already-authorized amount. It is hard to contest because the authorization log either exists or it does not. Win only with a valid approval covering the full amount.
Is Discover NA worth fighting?
Our reference rates NA (No Authorization) rarely winnable, so check the facts before spending time on a response. The evidence that answers it starts with approval record for the full amount on the transaction date. The cardholder's bank decides the outcome.
How long does a cardholder have to file a Discover NA chargeback?
Usually 120 days from the transaction date, under the network's issuer time limits for most codes. Your processor gives you far less time to respond, so work from the due date on the case.
