What Discover RG means
A non-receipt dispute. Chase's guide allows filing 120 days from the scheduled delivery, capped at 540 days from the transaction, and lists compelling evidence Discover accepts.
Common causes
- Lost or stolen parcel after a delivered scan
- Shipping delays past the promised date
- Order shipped but the customer was not told, or pickup was not communicated
- Friendly fraud on delivered orders
Evidence that answers it
- Proof of delivery to the address the cardholder gave
- Proof the cardholder did not cancel under your published policy, or that a cancellation number is invalid
- Emails or photos showing the cardholder received the goods
- For digital goods: IP address, email, description, download date and time, or site access after purchase
- Evidence from a previous undisputed transaction with the same details, or that a household member completed the purchase
- For ship-to-store: signed pickup form or ID copy
How to prevent it
- Give realistic delivery dates and communicate delays
- Use tracking on every order and signature confirmation for high values
- Notify customers when orders are ready for pickup

Frequently asked questions
What does Discover reason code RG mean?
Discover RG means the cardholder says the goods or services never arrived, the order was canceled but still charged, or delivery was refused. It is Discover's main non-receipt code. Win with proof of delivery as the cardholder directed, proof no valid cancellation was made, or compelling evidence such as emails, photos or download logs.
Is Discover RG worth fighting?
Our reference rates RG (Non-Receipt of Goods or Services) often winnable with the right evidence. The evidence that answers it starts with proof of delivery to the address the cardholder gave. The cardholder's bank decides the outcome.
How long does a cardholder have to file a Discover RG chargeback?
Usually 120 days from the scheduled delivery date, never more than 540 days after the transaction, under the network's issuer time limits. Your processor gives you far less time to respond, so work from the due date on the case.
