Prevention and protection

Which Shopify chargeback apps have no success fee?

Several, priced two ways. Flat subscriptions include Verdikx (from $29 a month) and ChargePay (from $19.99 a month on its Shopify listing), while Chargeblast and Chargeback.io charge per alert with no monthly fee. Success-fee apps such as Chargeflow (25% of each recovered chargeback) and Disputifier (20%, capped at $250) take a share of every win.

How to compare chargeback apps without a success fee

  1. Add up a typical monthDisputes received, the amount you won back and the alerts you'd expect.
  2. Price each modelFlat: the monthly price. Per alert: alerts times the price. Success fee: the amount won back times the rate. The success fee vs subscription calculator does the sums.
  3. Check what's includedResponses, order screening, alerts and the processors each app connects to.
  4. Check who submitsWhether you review each response before it goes, or the app submits on its own.
  5. Try it on real disputesUse the free trial on the cases you actually have.

Flat subscriptions

  • Verdikx: Starter $29, Growth $79 and Pro $199 a month (yearly saves 20%), each with a 7-day free trial and no cut of what you win back. Its AI drafts responses from your store's records for you to review; Starter covers AI drafts and the AI claim check for 10 cases a month, and Growth and Pro are unlimited (fair use). Order screening starts on Growth. Card-network alerts are coming soon, not live.
  • ChargePay: its Shopify App Store listing shows Basic $19.99, Grow $39.99, Advanced $79.99 and Plus $99.99 a month, each with a 7-day free trial, and says every plan includes unlimited chargebacks and fully automated chargeback recovery. It charges $29 per Ethoca alert and $19 per RDR or CDRN alert when alerts are enabled.

Per-alert pricing

  • Chargeblast: its Shopify App Store listing says "Pay per alert: $19 per Visa alert, $29 per Mastercard alert. No monthly fee." It doesn't state a price for its Recovery service.
  • Chargeback.io: its pricing page prices alerts at $29 (Ethoca), $15 (RDR) and $15 (CDRN, US only), billed only when an alert helps prevent a chargeback. A service for answering chargebacks isn't shown on that page.

Alerts let you refund before a chargeback is filed, which stops that dispute; they don't answer the chargebacks that still arrive.

Success-fee apps, for comparison

  • Chargeflow: its pricing page lists Automation at 25% per recovered chargeback, with nothing to pay until one is recovered.
  • Disputifier: its pricing page lists Chargeback Responses at 20% of recovered revenue, capped at $250 per recovery, billed only on results.

A success fee costs nothing in a month you don't win and more as you win more; a flat price stays the same either way. See Chargeflow alternatives for the wider list.

Example: the same month, three ways

A store wins back $1,600 in a month across eight disputes. A 25% success fee is $400; a 20% fee is $320, since no single recovery is large enough to reach a $250 cap; a flat $79 plan is $79. In a month with $200 won back, the 25% fee is $50 and the flat plan costs more. The volume decides which model is cheaper.

More questions

Do flat-fee chargeback apps charge extra for alerts?

Often, as a separate per-alert price: ChargePay's Shopify listing charges $29 per Ethoca alert and $19 per RDR or CDRN alert when alerts are enabled. Verdikx's Visa RDR and Mastercard Ethoca alerts are coming soon, not live, so there is no alert charge today.

Are chargeback alert apps the same as chargeback response apps?

No. Alerts from Verifi (RDR, CDRN) and Ethoca let you refund before a chargeback is filed, which stops that dispute. They don't answer the chargebacks that still arrive: Chargeback.io's pricing page shows alerts only, while response apps draft and submit evidence.
