Winning and losing disputes

Can AI fight chargebacks for you?

AI can do most of the writing: it can draft a response from your store's records that follows the reason code, and check the cardholder's claim against those records. It can't decide the case, and a draft is only as good as the records behind it, so you review it before it's sent.

How to use AI on a chargeback safely

  1. Give it your real recordsOrder and payment records, tracking with the carrier delivery scan, the product page, your policies and customer messages.
  2. Read the claim checkLook at which records contradict the cardholder's claim, and approve only the findings that hold up.
  3. Edit the draftCut anything the records don't show; a short letter that cites each exhibit reads better than a long one.
  4. Submit, or automate inside limitsSubmit it yourself, or let automation submit only the cases inside limits you set, such as processors, reasons and a maximum amount.

What AI is good at here

  • Drafting: turning order, payment, delivery and message records into a letter that answers the exact claim.
  • Checking: finding records that contradict the claim, such as a delivery scan on a "not received" dispute or a message where the customer mentions the item.
  • Speed: a first draft as soon as the dispute arrives, so the deadline stops being the bottleneck for a busy ecom store.

Where you stay in charge

  • Evidence it can't create. With no delivery scan or no earlier undisputed order, AI has nothing to cite, and it shouldn't pretend otherwise.
  • Review. An AI draft can be wrong, so check every statement against the records before it goes.
  • The decision. The cardholder's bank decides under card network rules; AI changes the response, not who judges it.

Example: a "not received" claim

A dispute lands as product not received on a $95 order. Within minutes the AI draft cites the carrier delivery scan to the order's address and a message the customer sent two days later asking how to wash the item, and the claim check flags that message as contradicting the claim. The merchant reads the draft, removes one sentence the records didn't support, approves it and submits.

How Verdikx does it

Verdikx's AI drafts each response from the store's own records, following the reason code's playbook, for you to review. The AI claim check cites the records that contradict the cardholder's claim, and only findings you approve go into the packet. Starter covers AI drafts and the AI claim check for 10 cases a month; Growth and Pro are unlimited (fair use), and on those plans Autopilot can submit inside limits you set, where the processor allows it. Banks decide; Verdikx guarantees nothing.

More questions

Can AI win chargebacks on its own?

No tool wins chargebacks: the cardholder's bank decides under card network rules. What AI changes is the response, which is drafted quickly from your records, matched to the reason code and sent before the deadline, with you checking it first.

What records does an AI chargeback response need?

The same ones a person would use: the order and payment records with AVS and CVV results, tracking with the carrier delivery scan, the product page, your policies, refunds and customer messages. The reason code decides which of them matter for a given dispute.
