Stop a disputing buyer's renewals on Recharge, Skio or Stripe Billing
When a buyer disputes or a fraud warning arrives, cancel their Recharge subscription, or pause or cancel a Skio or Stripe Billing one, from the case or the alert.
Where in VerdikxDisputes → Cases → open the case → Subscriptions on this customer, or Prevention
Why
Renewals on a card that was disputed or reported as fraud often become a second chargeback.
Steps
- Open the case and expand Subscriptions on this customer (or, on Prevention, open Active subscription on this card? on an early fraud warning).
- Click Check for active subscriptions. Verdikx checks Recharge and Skio (beta) and Stripe Billing, where connected.
- Click Pause or Cancel on the subscription and confirm.
Good to know
- Verdikx changes subscriptions only where the connection allows it: a Recharge token with the write_subscriptions scope, your Stripe connection, or a Skio API key. Recharge has no pause through its API, so it offers Cancel only.
- Shopify's own subscriptions are never changed.
- Verdikx doesn't email the customer, and when it cancels on Recharge or Skio it asks them not to send their cancellation emails either. Every change, and every failed attempt, is logged.
- Automatic on early fraud warnings is off by default. Turn it on under Automation → Autopilot & screening → Dispute decisions (Pause or Cancel). Disputes always ask you first.
- The automatic change only touches a subscription tied to the flagged payment itself: the Stripe Billing customer on the warned charge, a Recharge customer whose Recharge charge is that payment or its Shopify order, or a Skio subscription whose order is that Shopify order. A subscription that only shares the buyer's email is never changed automatically: it is logged as one to review, and you decide on the alert.
